Not being able to sleep has its perks. I started researching robins breeding. Turns out he is at least 1/4 tb. I can’t find any information about his dams dam. But her sire is full tb. So maybe I’ll have to give him sympathy when he is doing his wimpy tb act.

His dam evented for 2 years, was rubbish sj but never had a XC fault.

Another non-sleeper here ( 25 years of night shifts ! ) and I managed to trace my old boy back to 1914, and some of those ancestors even further - was amazing to see the photos of various relatives, and how the arab shape had changed over the years. What they had been used for - racing, breeding, TREK eventually and lots of endurance. No wonder he hated rain, didn't have a particularly good canter, but trotted like a dream, was built like a brick outhouse but on spaghetti like spindle legs. I have virtually nothing on my current lad, which is a shame, but I met the sire of the old boy, which was an amazing experience.
