I have retired from horse work and now living in town. I have three dogs, a GSD, Lab and E. Pointer. My sister has a Springer and a Border Terrier (ex hunt)
I was asleep but had left the door open as it was warm. I was awoken to here my GSD yip and race out, followed by the other dogs. I just thought they were chasing a cat but the terrier's voice had changed to "Fox."
I called them in and thought no more of it.
Come morning I took the dogs out and noticed there was a sack on the path. Only on returning from the walk and going to move it did I see under the sack was a dead vixen.
Barely a mark on her so I guess the GSD broke her neck.
I have followed hounds all my life but since returning "home" I have never seen so many BIG foxes. I couldn't believe my eyes when a dog fox and without exaggeration, the size of a Springer Spaniel, trotting across a friends lawn. He had a great coat and brush but was obese.
Her neighbour feeds the foxes three chickens a day. I think this fellow must have eaten them all.
He trotted to the front of the house and returned a lot faster than he left when the above terrier jumped out the van to give him some exercise.
I get a call a week or so later from friend to ask what to do as this fox had died in the middle of her lawn.
Never thought urban living could be such fun!
