Does anyone have advice on how to teach our horse to open gates? He gets really impatient about them, whether on his own or with other horses, and I can't get him to stand still long enough to open a gate. He is seventeen, so he should know better...

Patience lol. Chex is the best gate pony now, but we had years of shoving it the wrong way, walking off at that crucial moment etc. It makes it easier if you can control exactly where their feet are so you can get close enough to do the gate without falling off the side!

If I try and make him stand still, he gets more and more worked up. Should I just keep trying anyway?
