Friend and I are looking to go to our opening meet in a couple of weeks' time and aim to do the odd day throughout the season. Previously I've always worn tweed as I was told that unless you were a subscriber it was incorrect to wear black jacket. However, friend has been told it doesn't matter if you wear black.

Those of you who only go for the odd day - what do you wear?

If you're only coming out a few times and you only have tweed, then that'll be fine.

From Opening Meet onwards, regulars will be wearing black or navy with white or cream stock, pale breeches, long boots, and matching velvet hat cover.

Make sure you're warm enough, whatever you wear, otherwise you'll be miserable!

A black coat for a non-subscriber would only be incorrect if you sewed on the hunt collar and buttons before being invited to do so by the master.

An occasional visitor can either invest in a black coat or continue to wear ratcatcher throughout, as Chestnut Cob says you'll never be incorrectly dressed in tweed.

Have fun and let us know how you get on
