Opinions on Scruffy Fluffy baby please. He's rising 2yrs, IDxTB , living rough in a field with his friends. He'd be for low level competing, hunting etc but also like to show him inhand as a baby, so would like something quality.

I'm too busy going Awwww to be objective:o

What a nice sort, although I think my three year old beats him to the title of Skruffy baby, he was digging himself in to a mud hole when i left tonight. i wish you every success with him!

Bl***y gorgeous! A good sort.well let down and nicely put together. Right up my street, ID x TB is one of my favourite crosses anyway, but I think he's just lovely.

He'd be bought unseen in Ireland (trusted dealer and producer). Got other pics but he's kind of sprawled out in them :o Buying that way as get far better quality for money, hence interest is what others think (i think he's gorgeous :o )

Personally not that keen. Conformation/body - yes. Head and neck - no. I don't like the bump between his eyes and I'm not keen on the set of his neck.

I like him enough from that photo that I would be booking to see him :)

Only thing I would like to see is a more side on shot just to check whether he is a touch back at the knee or not but I am pretty sure it is just angle of photo.

Agree about head and neck just doesnt seem to marry up with the shape of his body. Also thinking his legs just dont match the rest of him.

But hey ho hes got three or four years of filling out to do and alot can change, its whether or not you want to take the chance.

I don't actually think his head is an odd shape- I think it is an optical illusion with the white marking if you look carefully.

Yes, his neck is a little short but imo the neck shape is the most easily altered part of a horse with correct work and it comes out of the shoulder very nicely.

Nope, it's definitely got a big bump! :o, although the white marking accentuates it. He also looks like he's got a bit of a piggy eye, although this could be the photo
Agree the neck can change shape with work but personally this would put me off this boy. But each to their own :)

His neck will grow. Two year olds go through the 'uglies' and a short neck is often a part of that. Can you see any photos of his sire and dam? This would really help you judge how he is likely to turn out.

I don't mind his head at all (again it will change shape a bit as he grows) but I have a 'seahorse' headed arab so his jibbah is nothing compared to what I'm used to. ;)

I dont think theres a bump. its his blaze forming an optical illusion. He looks just right conformation wise for his age too; I've bred ID x TB 's in the past and if they are not "forced" with lots of concentrates thats how they look at that age and make better horses for maturing slowly and taking their time. He's a grand sort and I bet he'll jump the moon when he's older! Mine used to hop out over dry stone walls into a sunken lane and then over a fence to get to a different field sometimes and I always sold them as potential eventers. I think he's a real cracker TBH.

He does have a roman nose but then so should all good hunters;) I've not got the other photo on my phone but will dig it out later. He doesn't appear to be back at the knee.

This is his dad

His mum's a TB but still need to find her breeding.

I also like his dad, although don't need such talent!

FDC he's only 18months in the photo and won't be 2 until june, so really still a yearling in my eyes.

For showing in-hand, forget it. His head is very plain (and won't improve much as he grows into it.) He's back at the knee, straight hocks, and the neck set is a bit too upright. For my liking, his cannons are also a bit long.

He looks very 'under-done' for his age - I'm not a believer in pushing babies, but they do need to be given a decent chance - nutritional deficiencies/worms leave a legacy!

Depends on the long term. I looked at him and thought you havent really got much of a chance for showing him this year- he's too immature for his age and that will stand out in the ring. Plus i don't think he head is 'nice' enough for showing. They have to look pretty I'm afraid to catch the eye of the judge. Sire looks nice. I'd want a video of him if I was even going to consider it further. But showing wise for me personally it's a no. ID xTB's are useful sorts though in jumping /HT's etc

Are they sure he is 2? He looks younger to me. Overall could grow to be a really nice sort I think.
FDC

He looks a similar maturity to our rising 2yo. Our Felix seems to be putting everything into growing taller and not much into bulking up - his legs are already longer than his 15yo full brother's. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and keep the faith ;) We were lucky with Wolf as he grew very evenly and steadily, but Felix is a bit of a lanky weed.

With youngsters you sort of have to take each body part in isolation and look at it - the angles don't tend to change.

Well, he's now MY Scruffy Baby:D And he's now called Roo. As in Kanga. With Squirrel as a standby nickname.

Arrived the other day and promptly went through the fence at a gallop:rolleyes: Very wary but coming round very quickly.
And many of you were right. Big bump on forehead (TB type dome) but a pretty little face. He DOES have piggy eyes (the type you see in appy's and some chestnuts, with the large sclera) and his neck IS currently too short for him (very much hoping it grows!). He does a very impressive giraffe impression but neck is an ok set. Rest of him rather nice, and he floats around the field:D

Oh, and he's bloody HUGE already! Easily 15.2hh and ALL leg! just hoping he doesn't make much over 17hh!
