Opinion on this youngster please

I wouldn't travel to see him. by the time you travel the country you have put another 1k plus on the cost of a horse, fuel, horse transports costs etc. if your not looking for a world beater I think theres plenty about in the sw area.

Because Connys have the cream gene not the dun gene. :) Bay + cream = buckskin, black + cream = smoky black and chestnut + cream = pally.

ETA - I would go and see him. It looks like he's still at the stud, so you can see his dam and hopefully the sire and siblings too. I went down to Hampshire to view my grey when I lived in Herts and I would travel that far again as long as I was confident that the youngster was everything I wanted before travelling. Have a good long phonecall with the breeder and find out as much as you can. Maybe ask for some more photos t be emailed including photos of the dam etc... If you still really like him, go and see him.

I like him, i think if he is what you are looking for and ticks the boxes its worth a look but have a long chat first and ensure the owner/ breeded knows what you want to see when you get there. Also Q the head coller in field not a biggy but might be tough to catch load travell etc but sometimes for something different you need to travel. Also i do think the price is steep for the market there are a number of TB X yearlings and 2 year olds that are a bit different and goor blood lines for <1000 so for me the price is to high for the current market but thats just me :-)

I *think* the stud used to breed Connies, dun ones at that, hard to say from photos but he looks to move quite close behind, I'd want to watch bang on front to back videos first too.

He looks like a cracking colt. I'd go see him if that was what I was looking for. And the price is what it is - how many palomino Connemara/TB yearlings with correct conformation and good movement are there to choose from?

I like him. A bit pricey but if he's what you're looking for then whats a few hundred extra. In a few years time when he's ridden you wont even remember what you paid for him

Good point.

I don't think the price is too expensive either.

I've posted to ask if anyone nearby can go view him for me and give an opinion and get more pics/vids. I do really like him but would loath to drive all that way and find something amiss. Has happened before :/

Would you advise a 2 stage vetting on a yearling?

I would go and see, he has a promising hind leg (good flexion) and looks a lovely sort. As above I would say he is a little close behind, but you won't find many like him around and from a video it is hard to tell how close he is.

I think he looks like a great buy! Definately wouldn't hurt to go and have a look but I'm sure someone in the area wouldn't mind having a first look for you to see if it's worth the trip.
