I have 3 horses and am hardly able to do any riding here is what i've got.
I have a coloured cob which was my first pony and i would never sell and now he is just a happy hacker as he is a bad head shaker so i am happy with him.
I have another horse which was my sisters and he has arthritis and is retired at 13 and is on a bute every day and still rests his leg often.
I have also got a 2 year old welsh d which i bought hoping he would mature to 15hh+ but now he is only 14.11/2hh and his bum is just touching 14.3hh i am 5'8 and now thinking he is going to be too small for me and i might feel underhorsed.
I am getting depressed with it all as i am looking after and paying for all 3 of them and am hardly getting to ride what are your opinion/advice? Or should i just stop whinging?

I used to comfortably ride a 14.3 welsh D, and I am 5'8''. I have lots of pics if you would like. The width of them takes up the leg.

If you don't feel your youngster is going to make the height you require and having 3 horses is stressing you out too much then consider selling him on , it will take the pressure off you a bit and give you some money.

would you consider selling the 2yr old? although at only2 he could still make 15hh or just over? i am also5ft 8 and used to own a 14.3hh sec d mare.
is there any way your sister would be willing to give you anything towards the looking after of her horse?

its nt really d money dats a prob its just the fact dat i am not able to compete any more which was mainly due to my cobs head shaking as i thght he wud b k till welshie was broken

If moneys not a problem then maybe consider getting a horse on loan, either part or full depending on time and finances, for the next year or so until your youngster can be broken, that way you can get out competing?

I second this, personally i don't see 14.2/3hh as too small for your height but its your preference that is important here, i would sell him and get yourself another after giving yourself a break.
One horse is hard work enough if its not in good health and easy to manage, let alone two who have health and age related issues

How big would you guess my welsh will make if he is standing at 14.1 1/2hh at withers and just slighlty over 14.3hh at his bum and he was just 2 at the begining of may

i wouldn't mind as long as he does get there eventually think i may see if i can get a yard with an arena and have lessons on my cob and see how he goes you never know he might get there lol

Your welsh d could easily reach 15hh, they still grow so much between 4 and 6-7 years of age
