Right i dont want to be shouted down for this, but i need some opinions, maybe some experiences and some advice.
As some of you may know, i have Dolly back, we bought her back so she could be semi retired and not be pushed till the end of her days!
She is getting on a bit (21 and has had a tough competition life) and is not wanting to do a particularly high level of work, and not very often.
She goes in the field occaisionaly, but my vet has said this is not too good for her as she is prone to lamintus now, so really the option for her is to go on the walker.
SHe has just in the last month or so decided that she can go down the road with out trying to kill, me, herself or any other road user. But she only behaves when she goes out with Chloe, my friends horse. So if she cant come we dont go. lol.
What i suppose my question is, iswhat do you do with a 21 year old ex competition horse that is not able to work alot cant be a field ornament and is not same enough to be a happy hacker.
I have been discussing with various people who also have competition horses, and we all hit a brick wall with what happens when they arent ill, but arent able to do other things.
Not overly sure this post makes sence but if anyone can get the general gist of it, opinions would be welcome.
