Opinions are like noses...

Hmm I was hoping for something more along the lines of, small button like, big and roman. Noses?! :D:p

Ah, sorry Bernster... I should explain... There is a saying that goes...

Opinions are like noses, everybody has one.

Just thought it was a fitting title to the thread.

OP its called conversation. People won't always respond in the manner you want them to, that's life. I like it when people give alternative viewpoints rather than just responding to the OPs questions. I like the diversity of opinions, sometimes it brings up a train of thought you didn't realise was relevant. Why are you so against freedom of speech on here? Perhaps you'd prefer a fluffier forum where nobody ever questions anybody else's views.

S&S I don't entirely disagree with you...it promotes learning and that can never be a bad thing... But for me there is a difference, a helpful person would perhaps have the respect to answer the question and then give their personal opinion and reasoning. For example my thread... 'If you're going to use topical treatment I would reccomend x, however, if i were in your position I would want to consult the vet... These eyeballs are tricky things' is far more helpful and better received that... 'You are wrong, call the vet'. I certainly know that in RL most people would have the decency to answer a question as well as providing their POV... Perhaps that's just the calibre of people I mix with. I just don't see how people screaming 'I'd PTS!' To someone who is specifically looking for a companion home is helpful or even kind? People going, 'nah, I wouldn't bother with a companion home, just PTS' may be their view, but it is not helpful. I'm not averse to opinions, but I do think that they should be presented with respect, ignoring the question posed and just throwing it out there... Is rude and unhelpful. I suppose its just how people present themselves, and as someone else said on another thread, they would be different in RL...

And no s&s, I'm pretty sure you know I'm not a 'fluffy' person... But when someone asks a question on here, it's one thing to get answers intermingled with opinions... And another to just get s load of opinions and no bleeding answers... Freedom of speech is something completely different from rudeness and wilful ignorance

No I don't think you're fluffy, which is why I was surprised you've done this thread. Must be something in the air, its the 4th thread I've stumbled across today, from people who don't want others opinions and thought they'd start a thread to say so  I suppose some people might be being rude, but I think a lot if it is interpretation. When typing on a phone people often keep things as short as possible. I've spoken to plenty IRL who don't say much and what they do say is short and to the point. But when its typed on the internet in such a manner people sometimes interpret it as being rude. I guess its all just a matter of opinion on what's rude or not. I find it strange that people post in a public forum when they're not prepared to get all kinds of responses, all of which have been given for free and some of which may be useful to the OP. Even if you have to wade through stuff you find unhelpful, it's still better than paying for knowledge isn't it?

Yes, I've seen a couple more threads like this since looking to.. I suppose some do think they are being helpful, but others just are plainly not... I'm in a grouch in RL at the moment so perhaps my short temper for such things has just spilled over into here:o. I don't particularly mind wading through to find the bits I can use normally, I suppose I just need a glass of vino:rolleyes:
