so having found out sully had actually been in a pelham basically since he came out of training i reverted to this trying a myler one with double reins so i could be careful. although i had control he was tense and actually naughtier on the spot leaping around. decided to scrap that as any other pelham crowds his mouth...
ive been told he hated the gag action but he is so different to what he was like i wonder if u guys think its worth a try?
in the mean time ive bee battling him in a neue(sp) scheule tranz angled lozenge thing he really likes it doing basic schooling so perfect schooling but jumping and hacking he doesnt give me a minute.
got the point where he has put out my instructors back(i have to have other people ride him through the week) and now no one else will so he is just lunged... :(
a sheepskin noseband was okay but not ideal im tempted to try him in a waterford but he has a TINY mouth so i think he would freak... any thoughts!?!?
at a bit of a loss now... tea and choc on offer :) xx

Could you try the Neue Schule as part of a double? That way you could have the mouthpiece that he likes with the curb for some breaks. Or Neue Schule do a pelham with the Trans Angled Lozenge mouth, that might be worth a try.

You could try a Myler or a Mikmar combination bit, as that has action in several different places.

I definitely recommend giving the Neue Schule advice line a call - they have a wealth of knowledge and will give you some new ideas to think about. I've met the founder myself and she's lovely, and very helpful.

Have you considered a simple stainless steel mullen mouth pelham? It is thin enough not to crowd the mouth unlike the rubber/vulcanite ones and if he went well in one before it might be worth a try.

he was in rubber before tried both a plain mullen mouth, jointed, myler low port and high port all just made him really unhappy... will definitely look at the neue scheule other options good idea he seems to really have taken to the mouthpiece so maybe thats the direction...
