What are peoples opinions on coloured (red) trousers for in hand showing? I normally stick to the traditional beige or dark depending on the pony but ive noticed a lot more people wearing red trousers and wondered what people thought, I don’t know whether to risk it and go for burgundy or play it safe and stick to what I know

I see people wear all sorts these days. A good judge will still pick the right horse, no matter the clothes, but its all a personal thing. I personally would never feel good in anything but my navy bottoms and tweed. The guy who wins every show (tbf his horse is the top of the top) wears a red tartan suit lol and the other winner with black horses wears all black. Ive only been showing 3 years but in that time ive seen changes and what the owner wears just doesn't seem to matter. Then again, the horses don't seem to matter sometimes either if the judge wants lunch..

Go for it! I know a lot of people, me included, that wear red/burgundy/wine trousers. Never been marked down, in-hand showing doesn't need to be bland :biggrin3:

I love my red trousers! My tweed also has a very faint red check in it, which is worn with a canary shirt and red tie too.

So long as it isn't an outrageous red and you are smartly dressed you will be fine. I quite like burgundy and darker red but a bright bright red wouldn't be my cup of tea lol!

Daughter wears red/burgundy trousers with striped red shirt! Her tweed has a red and burgundy overcheck. It looks very smart and has never been an issue.
