"I bought my mare in February as a project to bring on once I'd had my baby in May. She'd been turned out all winter and not been ridden much. Being pregnant I wanted a low maintenance horse that i could bring on once i'd had the baby but now realise i cant give my horse the time she needs.

She is not a nasty, dangerous horse and is easy to do. I was mucking out, lunging and grooming the day i went into labour! She has been ridden around 10 times since Feb primarily in the school, but also hacked out in company. I have not hacked her out alone but she has been and to my knowledge is fine. She has spent most of the last 10 weeks turned out on grass with little work and has become a bit clingy with other mares. She has become a bit naughty and irritable when in the school and needs a confident rider to work her. She has been shod several times whilst with me - always cold. She's a little nervy with the smoke when hot shod. She's up to date with dentist, worming and vaccinations and was easy to do with all.

She's well bred, with Nijinski lines. Sire - Dancing Spree USA (his sire Nijinski), Dame - Charlotte Penny. She raced when she was 2/3 yrs and has Wetherbys passport. She's very pretty and would also make ideal broodmare.

She is by no means a problem horse, more a project suiting someone who can work her regularly. Good home is priority hence price. If you think my mare is something you'd be interested in please let me know. I'm asking £1000 for her which is well below what i paid for her 5 months ago."

So, do you think this is genuine or a phsyco that has had the ad very carefully written?? Thanks guys!

I personally would look - but then again, I don't mind getting a slight mental horse for a cheap price.

IMO it sounds genuine but I'm not too experienced at this ad business

Is this advert going on Project Horses?
Sorry but theres not a lot of factual statements in there. My impression is that the mare is grand, not a lot wrong with her, but some would think it means that she is nuts.
There are no details, as in age/height/soundness.
being pretty doesnt make a good broodmare, being correct does - if she is then state so.
You ought to empahsise her good bits, does she hack out? Is she good in traffic?
Skirt over her bad bits and go into more detail when people enquire. Something such as 'green and will buck if put under too much rpessure' - if thats what she does.
Find some more good points, which are irrelevant really, but point towards good character - doesnt kick other horses/turns out quietly with geldings etc, etc.
Then I would say what you think she would be good at, and what sort of rider would bring out the best in her.
ETS: Just re read and noted you didnt write it!
Personally think it is complete bullsh#t. Have just looked the horse up and that dam hasnt had a Dancing Spree anything, let alone a filly that made the track.

I think she's probably not that bad and it sounds like an honest add, although cheep TB's who have raced aren't hard to find and she obviously has some problems.

Worth a look, but remember there are far more cheep TB's around so she isn't the only bargain horse out there.

Only problem I would have is you won't be able to try her properly and the owner certainly doesn't sound like she will ride her first!! Why not have a scout round some not so good training yards in your area??

Just read your post Vicijp!! i'm such a bad judge of character!!

Tossers!! I HATE Tosser horse people!!

Sounds to me like a nutcase. the naughty in the school and the fact she has been ridden 10 times sggests the owner doesn't want to go near riding her!

Having owned 2 ex-racers please think carefully about her - they do need alot more than others that havent raced - both mine had seperation issues, had problems with there bones (fractured pelvis when in racing then subsequent issues with ridden work, spavins, arthritis etc) They are fab horses and give you a lot back when you get it right but dont be fooled by the price please look carefully Good Luck!

I think she is overpriced, as are many of the project horse adverts in my opinion. A grand for something that sounds a bit nutty.. honestly.. you'd be lucky to give it away in reality if its as bad as it sounds..
Id stay far far away..

I was going to say if the horse is nearby, what have you got to lose by going to see her..

... however I notice your location is Venus. It may not be worth the petrol!
