Looking for a decent winter rug for my horse that hates neck rugs! He panics at the velcro closures being opened and does mini rears and rather than get into an argument about it I am going to capitutlate and get him a high neck rug instead! What do you all think about the Rambo Wug? Horse is going to be livinng out overnight so want something warm and waterproof

I had a stable rug wug and the neck was a little too snug for my liking - make sure you try it on with a sheet underneath in case its not right and you need to take it back.

unfortunately with any size of neck cover you will risk rubbing some of the mane out. Has anyone at the yard got one you could try on your horse before you buy one?

They are really good rugs. Warm, waterproof and tough. My rugbuster horse hasnt managed to rip his in 2 years! Most people i know go for the next size up in a rambo. So if your horse is normally 6' then go for a 6'3 especially if your horse is fairly wide. They also have a nylon lining which eliminates rubbing.

Rambo are very good BUT if your horse has broad shoulders they are inclined to be tight fitting I had to buy my heavyweight show hunter a new type after he grew and I went for a premier one that is adverized in the H&H very good fit and vented shoulders

Its odd as the Premier Equine one wont go near my MW horse, as in strangulation mode and no way he'd get his head down whereas the Wug is fantastic. I agree the are snug so if your horse is say a decent 6' 6 then get a 6' 9. Mine has never rubbed his mane and stood up to another horse regulary swinging off it and trying to pick him up by it!!
Brilliant rug.

The Rambo Wug is a great rug. Mine lasted for years. They do come up a little small so I'd go up a size unless the horse is like sitting on a gate lol! I machine washed mine many, many times and they came up as good as new and never needed reproofing. Just use Non Bio and a low temp. Definately no conditioner, that's what knackers the proofing.

Unfortunately for you the chest closure involves velcro.

I had an Arab and a Dales and neither of their manes were rubbed.

My ISH on the other hand lost an entire half of her mane!

The Rambo Wug is great. I found it true to size on my horse, she is a 15.3hh Irish Sports Horse and takes 6'3". Rambo rugs are really waterproof if you can resist the temptation to wash them. I like the V-fastening at the front. I would definitely recommend it.

Ive had Rhino wugs and used Rambo normal rugs and currently Amigo wugs . I really like all of them. Would have Rambo wugs if/when I can afford them. Hve never had a problem with any rubbing.
