Hi

I was going to change my Connie's feed, I was thinking pony nuts and soft and soak with some vegetable oil?

This has been adviced to me, any opinion on this?

Thanks :)

oh I don't want him to have any energy lol, he is in light work to medium work.. well more light lol. I just plod about on him mainly a few times a week. I don't want anything that will hype him up.

What do you think of this combination? and in particular the soft and soak feed?

Also why give veg oil?

Thank you

I don't see anything wrong with what I have him on... but others keep saying to change it to different things for different reasons.. so not really sure???

I've just started feeding the Solution Mash from the soft and soak range to my ulcer prone wb. She's also having forage n fiber (just a token of it really, so she has something to eat while the other horses are being fed), Sumo Mb, Sumo original and Alfalfa cubes.

For your horse I would also go for the Forage n Fiber. Its low starch, low energy and low protein, so just about right for an easy keeper who's not doing much.

Vegetable oil is given whenever you feel the horse can't get enough energy from the feed it's getting and you can't increase it (i.e. horse is already at the maximum amount of hard feed per day, or its sensitive to starch or sugar so should have limited amounts of hard feed). Its also useful to give a shine to the coat, but I would rather use linseed oil for this.

I have tried the red bag (less nutrients) and blue bag (more nutrients) neither sent my very highly strung, hot tb crazy and she is very sensitive to food.
In fact she did really really well on it and she looooved it. She is usually really fussy as well.
