Ive recently put one of my nags up for sale then sods law next day ends up with a splint! (now has splint on each fore leg) so how much does a splint/splints affect the price?
As mm says. Also how old is your horse? If i was to view a 5yr old dressage horse with splints on both legs then i would think twice about it. But if it was a 13yrs eventer or hunter then i wouldn't be at all surprised. If the horse isn't lame or the splints aren't hot or are old ones then it is purely a cosmetic thing and i think each buyer would view them differently, me personally as long as they didnt look like two tennis balls on each leg for an all rounder over the age of 9/10 it wouldnt bother me.
As long as they are well estalished and cold, and I wasn't buying the horse for high level of showing, they wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
In fact 3 out of the 4 horses I have owned have had splints - they have all hunted and competed and have never caused an issue, and I would not have expected money off because of them.
Shes a 9yr old iberian, very well bred but not done much yet tbh. splints can't be seen there only small and dont affect her movement but obviously can be felt so would affect any high level showing prospects
Im assuming shes done them charging round the field jumping over logs with the others which is her fave passtime at the min trouble is we have very hard ground
