We have decided to try Harry on project horses, as when we tried him on horsemart we got alot of novices ringing up, even though it stated on his advert his problems, and we thought projecthorses would be more suitable. So, have written a long, honest advert out and would like your opinions before we submit it. Most of it is mums wording not mine!

Harry is a dark chestnut 14.2hh 10 year old unregistered Welsh Section D gelding.
We bought Harry in september 2006 to hunt, which we have done on most saterdays this season, and he adores it! He never stops and jumps 5 bar gates and 5ft hedges, and has jumped away from the whole field when he went on point, so nappiness is not an issue! He will go all day on any terraine. We have also done several teamchases, where he won the junior section of the VWH and always goes clear. He has attended pony club showjumping sessions/rallies and is well behaved. Harry is fine with traffic and has been ridden out by me and my nervous mother!
However, after buying Harry, we found out he had won quite a lot of money BSJA, and we believe he has been over jumped/over faced, to which he showed his dislike by bucking. They arent huge bucks and are easy to sit to, but it dissrupts his flow when jumping and sometimes results to a refusal if he is bucking too close to the jump. Saying this, he has improved with a more relaxed lifestyle, and we qualified 2"9ft trailblazers and jumps clear at our local sj centre (gracelands). he doesn't buck out x-country/hacking, and has a very big, scopey jump.
He is never going to be a "looker", a schoomaster or a dressage pony, but is a fun little pony and will give someone alot of fun hacking, hunting, teamchasing and x-country. He doesn't enjoy being schooled and gets bored, and can become quite fizzy. He doesn't love being cuddled, but tolerates it and has never kicked/bitten.
We would like Harry to go to a nice, knowledgable home where he can carry on enjoying life and give someone alot of fun. He is being sold through no fault of his own, as we have a new horse and dont have the time, money and space to keep the two of them and my sisters mare. He is 100% to box, shoe, traffic and hacks alone or in company.
£2250 ONO

would also like your opinions on his price- do you think it is about right? thanks!

I would say 2k max, he isnt a fun little pony if he attempts to deck ya when he gets bored no offence lol plus like D&D said its misleading from what youve told us.

true, but we are assuming as this was a one off that it was his saddle, as he was wearing a different saddle to usual as his other one was being fixed (the knee roll has come loose from all the hunting!), and i took him on the same route in his normal saddle wednesday afternoon and he was totally fine, and has been since, so we are putting it down to the saddle as he had never done it before, although will mention it on the phone as it is something that isnt regular, so didnt think it was neccesary to put it on the ad.

Sorry, i have to agre with SMR in that he seems very pricey for something that bucks and refuses. If someone wanted a fun little pony, they could get something younger with no hang ups for about the same price.
Horses on project horses are overpriced IMO. They're on there for a reason......

I think so of the sentences are a little long. I have a look and edited it a little. Personally I think you should ask £2250 but be will to except less. Lots of people will want good hunters, xc horses and will to pay that much. I think you have been very honest about him and hope you find a nice home for him

Harry was bought in September 2006 to hunt, Never stops and will happily stay out all day, jumps 5 bar gates and 5ft hedges, Does not nap. Also loves teamchasing, member of the winning team in the junior section at VWH. He has attended pony club showjumping sessions/rallies and is well behaved. Harry is fine with traffic and has been ridden out by me and my nervous mother!

However, we have found out he has won quite a lot of money BSJA, and we believe he has been over jumped/over faced, to which he showed his dislike by bucking. They are not huge bucks and are easy to sit to, but can distract his attention for the jump. Saying this, he has improved with a more relaxed lifestyle and has qualified 2"9ft trailblazers and jumps clear at our local sj centre (Gracelands). He doesn't buck out x-country/hacking, and has a very big, scopey jump. He doesn't enjoy being schooled and gets bored, and can become quite fizzy. He doesn't love being cuddled, but tolerates it and has never kicked/bitten.

He is never going to be a schoolmaster or a dressage pony, but is a fun little pony and will give someone a lot of fun hacking, hunting, teamchasing and x-country.

We would like Harry to go to a nice, knowledgeable home where he can carry on enjoying life and give someone a lot of fun. Would suit experienced teenage or lightweight adult. He is being sold through no fault of his own, as we have a new horse and don not have the time, money and space to keep the two of them and my sisters mare. He is 100% to box, shoe, traffic and hacks alone or in company.

i personally think that you are asking too much for him, as you can get ponies similar to harry that dont buck for this price or less.

I think you need to decide whether your selling him as a problem pony, who bucks and needs a confident experienced rider like I know harry as....Or a fun little hunting pony which you would trust you nervous mother on...

Sounds fair to me tbh. As you said they aren't unseating bucks, and if somebody wants a very talented pony to hunt, hunter-trial/team chase, or put some work in SJ then he sounds great and reasonably priced.

I think if he was equally talented, bit better schooled and not quirky you'd be looking at double the price anyways.

Its lovely to see you have been honest in your wording of your pony, it gives the impression you care and are nice people to deal with. I don't think he is a problem pony, but just expresses how he feels sometimes by bucking, which he doesnt do whilst hunting. I also think the price is ok as he sounds a nice sort for xc and hunting. Not every one wants to SJ. Good advert.

I think that is very fair!
After seeing him in the flesh jump round that course and witness bucks I don't think they were nasty bucks at all!
I would pay that for him!

I think it's a fair price.

Many ponies sell for double this price, the owners are not all that honest and they end up having worse vices than this. (And I don't think his are vices - just the result of circumstances)

Not everyone wants to compete. Many are happy hacking and doing sponsored rides, with the odd lesson. He'd be perfect for many people I'm sure.

I TOTALLY echo this comment and IMO this is probably why (if the wording was similar) you got the response you didn't want on horsemart.

Not sure on price as I really have no experience of these things but he just sounds like a typical sharp Welsh D to me!!! Probs the sort of thing I would end up with...although I already have one very similar! LOL!
