Hiya -

Just had the saddler out this weekend to re-check my saddles and re-flock them. However, the dressage saddle I have is pretty old and not doing my position any favours. My saddler also noted that my horse has a larger left shoulder than right and the panels are quite narrow for her, although everything else looks good.

I'm putting her in foal next year, but am still competing BD - Elem/Med till then. So don't want to pay a fortune for a saddle, but feel like I can't keep her in the current one. Any advice opinions on the wintec range? Thinking the changeable gullet is a bonus, for when I get a new horse, but want something comfortable and and practical!

Lovely - thanks you! Wasn't sure if the pro/500 was better or not, but will go with majority vote!
Do you know what the stirrup bars are like? Mine on my current saddle are quite forward, and been advised to get a saddle with bars set further back - specially as I tend to tip forward!

The Isabell Werth has a very deep seat and the stirrup bars are really set back. It puts you into a very correct position, although the seat is very small so make sure you can ride in it.

I rode in a 17" and it felt like 16" which was very uncomfortable for me and actually made me tip forwards. In the 18" which felt like a 17" I was fine and actually loved riding in it.

Would not get the other Wintec dressage saddles - the tree is exactly the same as the GP so wont help your position.

Thanks for the tip - have a bit of a 'J-Lo' so would definatly want to have plenty of room to sit in!!!!!

I have a 17.5 isabell, it took a bit of getting used to if I'm honest but I love it now it feels very secure, I had a wintec pro on a previous horse which has a flatter more open seat but still has the equiseude and looks virtually the same. I rode on the bates leather isabella but it was a 17" and I was jumping a pony in it which was terrifying.

The 500s are a bit plastic looking.

I have a Pro - as already said it's pretty flat. It's more of a slightly-straighter-than-VSD type TBH. You may find you don't like the Isabell though, it's quite restrictive. All I can say is try them! They may or may not fit you and your horse, just like any other saddle

My main problem with all the wintec saddles I've ever seen, is that the pannels stick out way beyond the length of the seat, and make many horses sensitive behind the saddle. So, if you get a 17'' seat the pannals are more like an 18'' on the horses back.

If you are trying one on your horse, double check that the pannels aren't digging in where the back rises up to the quarters, or making contact beyond the last rib

Agree with CBAnglo - the seat is very small. I am 5'8 and not too fat (well a 14) and a 17.5 inch is too small for me with the Isabelle. Apart from that I liked the Isabelle
