As the title really. Considering whether to invest in one for my XXW Arab, but not sure what it's like for the rider. I've got a Thorowgood cob GP for him, that I'm NOT impressed with - don't like the way they have used staples in the construction, and it isn't comfortable to ride in.
Now that he's grown withers, it doesn't sit well on him, either. I have an Ideal VSD saddle that fits him well, but which has a wide flat seat that I struggle to keep central in. I'm now hacking him in an ancient Wintec pro GP that my old Arab uses.

No real idea re the dressage one but I bought the GP for my youngster. It's the one with Cair in (god knows what difference, if any that actually makes!?). I find it perfectly comfortable to ride in and it sat better on him that the Thorowgood T4 that I tried at the same time - although the K&M cob GP sits on him ok (that's my other horse's saddle though). I have an instructor having a look at it tomorrow - I needed to get wide as he's got plenty of growing to do - I am in no doubt though she will probably tell me one way or the other it doesn't fit! :) I think it does, although maybe is a tad too wide at the mo so may need to drop it down a bar width. Looks wise, I don't think they look bad - better than the Wintecs of old anyway! :)

I have a wintec isabell werth saddle for my wide low wither Connie cross. I love the saddle, I feel very secure in it and it encourages good leg position. Other people who have ridden in it usually absolutely love it but some hate it. Interchangeable gullet means I can use it if I get a normal backed horse in the future...
Now I haven't ridden in it in over a year (focussing on jumping) but i'm sure my feelings would be the same on it!

I have the Wintec Isabel Werth for my wide cob too. Love it too! Also used to have Thorowgood cob GP and wasn't too keen.

I might be wrong but the way I understood it was that K&M and Thorowgood are one and the same: K&M are basically just the leather version and are the same tree so the K&M cob would basically be the same saddle as the Thorowgood one. (Just like Bates are the leather version of Wintec).

Yeah, the K&M is the leather Thorowgood. However, although I have the K&M for my older horse and used this on my young one initially and it fit ok, the Thorowgood did not fit and the back of it was visibly off his back. Maybe that was because it wasnt actually the cob version but just the standard GP. The K&M I have is the cob one as preferred the square cantel.
