Hello, I am considering breeding from my mare.
Still loads of thinking through to do, need vets ok etc etc, but just wondering what you guys think, and would suggest as a stallion, as I am quite new to all this.

I don't know her breeding but she has lovely paces and a really super jump. If I do my sums and can afford to, I would like to breed something for me, to be a really decent all rounder.

I am thinking maybe TB but want something with a very easy temperament. She is about 15.2 and I don't want to breed anything huge. Not fussed about foal being coloured.

What do you think?

Where are you in the country, or are you aiming for AI? A TB should give you a nice type of horse.

If in the westcountry, then there's this one, very well known and well regarded. http://www.trenerthequestrian.com/index....0&Itemid=83

This one (photo does not do him justice, this stallion is stunning if knocking on a bit) http://www.langallerfarm.co.uk/indstallion.php?lngforsaleID=38

And my personal favourite, this one, I had the pleasure of knowing one of his fillies, she was the sweetest natured mare going. http://www.brendonhill-stallions.co.uk/

I have to agree with your comment on Daws Firebird!! I was blown away by him when I saw him - I nearly asked if it was the same horse as on the stud card!!

hello, thanks for that - really helpful. Am thinking AI at the mo.
Which one of the brendon hill stallions would you recommend? Are they all full TB do you know? (sorry to be thick - i have heard of ben's faerie etc). It's Without Doubt looks luurvely!!

Although i thought tb would be good for her would like a tb with a bit of substance if you know what i mean.

What county are you in and do you have an AI centre nearby, or specialist vet? Just thinking aloud here (and postponing continuing packing

Hello, in Oxon, and yes there is a good stud vet round this way that I know friends/yards have used for AI (I still need to investigate all the costs etc - if I go ahead expect lots of Qs being posted!!)
packing - eww! have to sign off now but please keep suggestions coming and will check back tomorrow - thank you!!

Yeah he's quite well under - I don't know if there is any frozen of his, but I've seen peeps on here advocating, so maybe there is? I know he was a tough racehorse and an excellent sire, but his feet always worry me.....

Wow - Hot Rumour really does it for me - would seriously consider that boy for my mare.

I've had a soft spot for him since I met him out staghunting one day! Such a gent; will have to sort out some pic's if I can find them!

thank you everyone, i wouldn't have had a clue where to start with TBs, so you've all been really helpful. Off to do more homework on this (inc sums!) will let you know what i decide...
