I had to go and check them you made me worry, I can confirm no nail sticking out but she was only shod 3 weeks agoIs it just the photo or is a nail sticking out of the hoof? I assume they are due to be done again, but the entire hoof seems twisted. Perhaps they are pigeon toed?
She does paw the ground sometimes, yes. Haven’t noticed dragging the toe or landing toe firstDoes you horse paw the ground at all? have you noticed they are dragging that toe slightly?
It is wearing unevenly compared to the other foot. Worth mentioning to the farrier next time they visit.
does have a slight dish on that footDoes she move straight?
That is probably the reason the shoe is wearing that way. Mine wore shoes in a similar way.does have a slight dish on that foot
Just the lighting in the photo thenI had to go and check them you made me worry, I can confirm no nail sticking out but she was only shod 3 weeks ago
I’ll keep an eye and see I’ve only had her back since the end of jan so only just noticed I owned her for 6 years but sold her 4 years ago and just bought her back but to be honest I can’t really ever remember looking and seeing or noticing so will keep an eye on itIt would worry me if it's a new thing.
.
Thank you, I will get some photos tomorrow and postDo you have photos from any other angles - especially side on? Also from underneath with foot picked out.
From just the angle shown (and photos can be really misleading) they do look rather long and flared for having been shod only 3 weeks ago. (With the grass starting to come through their feet are starting to grow more than they were over winter, this isn't necessarily a dig at how she's been shod, just an observation from just this angle.)
To put the wear of the toe into context, several angles (or at least just this angle, side on and the solar (underneath) views) of both fronts would be useful. And a photo of the lower leg from knee downwards from this angle would help too.
