If it's not normal for the horse (by that I mean it's not a birth defect) then it's very bad news.
I'd suspect severe suspensory damage

He's not my horse.
Horse i've cared for for 2 years. Came in lame from the field in Sept 07... box rested for 6 or 7 months. Vet then instructed he should receive walks in hand, slow build up of strength over months in order for him to be field sound and live out the rest of his days.
Owners decided they couldn't be bothered with seeking out the facilities in order for the programme specified to be carried out.. and so threw him out in a boggy uneven field on one of the wettest days of the year.
I have no right/say in what happens to this horse now (Despite 2 years of care without pay for him), due to the owners pig ignorance and blind stupidity. They have all the money in the world.. and none of the care.

Horse has been out since March.. and has been like this since a few days after they threw him out. Vet has been told not to come back, by the owner, as the horse is "fine and enjoying being out" (according to them). We have told vet that horse is infact not fine and will be showing him these pictures, but as it stands he says he has no right to go to the horse.

Love the horse in question with all my heart.. and being so helpless is truly awful.

Hope that makes sense. Probably won't.

I am presuming the outlook is... well... bleak, to say the least.

It doesn't have to be. Is the horse very lame? Is he in pain?
Get all the details together and a aproach the Scottish equivilant of R.S.P.C.A. or local horse rescue center.
No joy then pm me details if you can.

Thank you.

Silver_Florin - Due to a fall out with the owners (due to their treatment of the horse and of us) I cannot see him often.. to get these pictures I had to make sure the owners were out. He is lame, yes. Which would indicate that yes, he is in pain. But he's not one to make a fuss, and he is perky and bright in himself.. or atleast he appeared so. But that could be because he was seeing people.

I will email them to the SSPCA and the ILPH now. Any other suggestions?

Classic torn suspensory symptoms, poor horse & poor you!! OMG people like this just make me sick, you must feel absolutely helpless, defo try the ILPH, isn't failing to seek veterinary care an offence under the Animal Welfare Act??

Kizzywiz, I would imagine it would definately be under the new act from 2006... as it is failing to prevent suffereing. But that doesnt say much, bloody law doesnt seem to be inforced at all! Good luck with the rescue mission Boodle! let us know how it goes

Rabbity! have now managed to see the piccies! as per my e-mail!!!! All good advice here! Massive hugs to you!!
I'll e-mail my phone number if you need to talk!

I am speechless that poor horse and how much pain must it be in. I feel sorry for the horse and you for not being able to do anything (yet ) x

Looks like suspensory damage and beginnings of clubfoot from chronic lameness. Not the best pics to tell from though.

Oh dear. I know who this is and I think you know it is time to report them to the SSPCA and ILPH. I think you also need to get the vet to tell them that he has been refused permission to treat this horse by the owners.
