My 12hh pony who is a companion to my boy but is lead out on excercise with him, so no saddle or rider, has a large build up of muscle on the top of her shoulder blade.
She became lame on that leg so stopped excercise and rested her. Then it rained and a flush of grass = laminitis. Vet confirmed and treated.
She is still lame on that leg and the muscle has softened and is going, due to rest I believe.
Had vet out yesterday and he believes lamminitis is causing lameness. To be honest I'm not sure. I respect my vet's opinion but not sure we have got to the bottom of it. I think she may be using that side to compensate for something elsewhere. When sound again and in work will the muscle build up return?
Opinions please, and has anyone had the same sort of muscle build up.
Her figure is good and not overweight.
