Have just been emailed asking for donations for this dog.

Please HELP SKY --- Skye is very underweight - she is just 22kgs, riddled with worms & fleas and losing blood from her bottom due to rubbing it along the concrete to itch herself, her fur is coming off in clumps so she has several bald patches and her tummy is red raw from scratching.

BUT that is the least of her probl...ems, BOTH of her ears have been so badly neglected in her short life that they oozing blood & brown pus and are closed due cauliflower ears this will make the administering of any antibiotics at this stage nearly impossible so is left with the great possibility of having to have both her ear canals removed.Skye went to the vets today and has now been diagnosed with having Anal Furunculosis.
If you touch her head she cries in pain, if you touch her tummy she cries in pain.

Even through the pain Skye's nature is so sweet & gentle and she is desperate for love and cuddles. She didn't deserve to be left in this condition and nor will she be.

Skye is going to need a lot of ongoing treatment to get her back to a bouncing 3yo happy dog! and we think Skye deserves so much more from humans than she has had already - don't you.

PTS without a shadow of a doubt :( But then I would PTS a lot of dogs which are "rescued" and brought back to "health" which probably makes me a nasty hard woman :(

Who has the email come from? I take it not an individual but a rescue organisation? If it's a charity that you subscribe to then I guess it's a general blankett drop to raise funds by highlighting one case in particular.

Seems odd and strangely worded for impact though. Were there photos of Skye? And were they suggesting a set monthly ammount or one off donation?

It is a rescue organisation (but run as a ltd company not a charity). Yes it was a mass email asking for donations just for this bitches treatment.

Dear me, that is a,ot of problems for one dog:( she is going to be in a fair bit of pain before, during and after, obs if the rescue are taking care of her after care and are going ahead this will cost a small fortune, is it a rescue you are familiar with, obs make sure it's for real, some people do ask for donations and the condtions are fake or far fetched.

Is she a shep? She's young enough to recover, but having had ear and skin problems with B I know it is not easy and AF is horrible, just horrible.
It's a toughie, it could be expensive and labour intensive to cure, and even then she may not even be fully cured, not many homes could take on a dog that needs that sort of aftercare and she doesn't exactly sound happy :(
My friend had her dog's ear canal removed and he is still tortured with it.
Could the money be spent on a more rehab-able dog?

Its a shepherd. As you say AF is a horrible condition, and if it is so bad at such a young age suspect it will be an ongoing problem even after surgery. They do appear to have received quite a few donations already, so suspect they will go ahead. It concerns me that apart from the ears and AF , "if you touch her tummy she cries in pain", that suggests there is something else going on as well.
I replied saying imo it would be kinder to pts, suspect I will be off their mailing list in future.
