i received a message off my yard owner this morning saying that the horses on my yard, including mine have escaped through our electric fencing (from strip grazing) and are now grazing on really long fresh grass! :( ive no way of sorting it out while after work (5oclock) will they be ok?

Depends if he is a greedy face-stuffer - I am very lucky, neither of mine would gorge themselves, and spend a lot of time dozing under trees. If he is on strip grazing because he will eat until he is removed from there, and is a likely colic/laminitis candidate, I would find a friend to move him, or speak to boss and explain and hope boss is friendly enough to let you leave for a while. Can YO not help ?

Ditto. Can you get anyone to go and get him in? Even if he isn't a lami risk stuffing on long grass all day will present a gassy colic risk.

Have you got a friend or relative that can go and get him in? It really depends on why he is normally strip grazed. I'd not be happy for my mare to be left on lush grass all day.

the horses are only on strip grazing because thats the way the yard owner wants it, everyones at work & cant leave, ive just gone out of work to try but none of them will now let me catch them :(

Did this happen after your morning visit??

Tiny bit patronising - might be that YO checked them this morning (hence text to OP to let her know all is not well) and that's how things are. I don't see mine in the morning - but I pay to make sure they're checked/turned out for me.

OP - could the YO not help you catch them? Frustrating situation to be in.

i dont see mine properly in the morning either, they're all actually turned out 24/7 now so i only drive past in a morning just to check all are ok, apart from this morning as i was starting work alot earlier than normal & was dark when i set off so YO said he'd check them for me on his way to work, the only day i dont go is the one day they're not ok! YO didnt have time to stop as he had work too & other liveries are also working so we're in a bit of a pickle, i'm going to go down on my dinner to see if i can bring them in & re do the fencing. fingers crossed :)
