Opinions please

He's very handsome (I'm a sucker for a ginger welshie :D)

Agree with the others - very short stride, no 'welsh action' but that could just be because he's on his forehand so much. I haven't seen your other posts so I don't know if there is a reasonable explanation for the tail carriage? That would concern me TBH in case it's a back or hock issue.

On a positive note, if he's 4 - 8 years old with a clean vetting I'd snap him up quickly. If he's older or has high mileage for his age I would be concerned about future soundness.

*going to look at your previous posts now* Yes I know I should have done that before I answered - sorry!

Flashy pony but my concern would be with his near hind. He does not seem to sit with that hind at all and looks stiff. I don't actually think that is a rider issue either. As for the tail to one side - thats a vet question. I have a friend who has a horse who does that and he flew through a very thorough 5* with no issue. No problem since either. I didn't really get as far as looking how deep the horse went etc as was fixated on the hind leg.

FWIW I am not convinced he is sound behind either. He has very weak gaskins and seems stiff in his hock. With the odd unbalanced step and combined with the tail carriage I would be a little suspicious.

I had a 12 year old medium dressage pony vetted a few months ago and it failed on arthritis in the hock and its problems were much less noticeable than this -I had noticed it seemed to step a little short on off hind and when the vet trotted it on concrete you could 'just' hear a slight toe drag from the shoe, then lunged without rider in the school it bunny hopped occasionally in the canter. The vet mentioned to the vendor that a good rider can help to support and mask this type of problem so wouldn't proceed any further.

thank you all for your input, it has been very helpful.

I was considering going to view him as I really liked the sound of him but from what you have all said I think I will give him a miss, as he is 11 years old and has done A LOT of activities.

I am another who thinks he is un-sound behind. A lot of the time he looked just stiff and not through, but when he turns tighter he looks not right at all.

He looks like a nice sort though :)
