On the UK Tom Thumb bit ( link kelow)

I need a head raising bit, I personally like the fact that the lower shanks seem quite short and there for not too harsh. Will prob ride with 2 reins as only relly need the head lifting if cantering out hacking or if he plays up and has a bucking fit. I am planning to use this and every so often swap back to his waterford loose ring, which he respects and does not lean on, but need a little extra which TT will give me I hope without the palarva of a 4 ring gag or NS jumper,

I dont like over taking believe it or not !!

Please be honest

p.s. he is a BIG HEAVY horsey

Any bit with a shaft will put presure on your horses poll and bring his head further down. I'd avoid anything like a TT, Pelham, Gag.

Can you not try a snaffle and do more exercises to get him "sit" and come up in front naturally. transitions, lateral work, poles etc.

you can do loads of transitions on the roads or out hacking if you do that more than schooling.
