opinions plz - all leather grackles or elastic inserts?

decided il prob try my daft pony in a grackle so now decision needs made as too which type to try? he wasnt happy in a flash so thinking the elastic inserted grackle would suit him better? i dont know much about grackles, closest iv been is tacking a horse up who wore one but never ridden in one!

I use an elastic grakle on my tb mare. She is much more relaxed in it however it is not dressage legal (either BD or BE).

It certainly causes relaxation of the jaw, but I have not had her in a normal leather one so it might have the same effect.
