what does everyone think about treeless saddles? my saddle no longer fits my horse so was thinking about getting a treeless to put me on until i can sell my saddle (guttered about having to sell as i love my saddle) and buy one thats a better fit

iv just had my first treeless saddle, very comfortable and i use it to hack and school in but i would not jump in it as it does have a tendancy to slip no matter how tight the girth is :(

Someone once told me the quickest way to wreck your horse's back is to buy it a treeless saddle. Never used them myself so cant really comment with any authority

I've ridden in my friend's a few times. It always slips and it's really uncomfortable as really wide mid thigh and made my hips hurt within minutes of sitting on it. It served a purpose until she had a saddle made to fit her horse's big shoulders but I would never ride in one again or want my horses ridden in one.

Buying and fitting a treeless saddle is just as complicated as buying and fitting a treed saddle. There are many different types, each with advantages and disadvantages. You should do your research before you buy, and stay away from the cheap foreign versions on eBay.

If your current treed saddle no longer fits, it may be possible to have the tree adjusted and the panels reflocked.

i may do this. the physio has been today an said its just very slightly to narrow (about half an inch)

Have a search on previous threads..I did one recently about Heather Moffat saddles and got loads of advice, not just on HM but on treeless in general.
