We've seen a potential horse, however he is currently barefoot. Was shod when current owner bought him and they have had fronts on him, but been barefoot for near on 3 years. Would there be an issue to put shoes back on? I know its probably a numpty question but all the threads are about going barefoot not the other way around! I don't envisage an issue but thought would see opinions anyway. He has been XC schooling recently but would want to possibly shoe if we want the option to stud.

There has been a recent discussion about this. There shouldn't be any problem with putting shoes back on, just as there isn't a problem when putting a horse's first set of shoes on. I've just put a set of shoes on my mare who has been unshod for the past year - 18 months or so; she was getting sore and is no longer thus after being shod.

Should not be an issue as long as the horse is good to shoe. Some are bad - fidgety - lash out etc.

But unless that's the issue . Have you found out from previous owner what it is like to shoe??

If it is good then I suggest you go right on and shoe it.:)
