Ok, not really sure where to start on this.
Went to a local ht today, rules stated that final placings will be determined by time, however you where to proceed at a good hunting pace. (fair enough) Didnt really push to hard but went through the timed section clear and i thought at a decent pace, also went clear round rest of course. Was quite disappointed to see we had the fastest time and no placing. 1st had 51 seconds something, 4th was 46 and 10th was 58. A, not sure how they worked this out, can anyone help? If say the optimum time was 50 seconds, how does it work out if 1 had time of 48 seconds and someone else had 52 seconds? B at no point where the distances and or optimum times displayed anywhere, so might as well have put all names in bag and done a lucky dip!
After alot of competitors had complained, the secretaries decided to display times etc for the remaining classes.
Just feel really let down by the whole way it was dealt with, especially as looking at other schedules, they state the times distances etc. Is this just the sort of thing to expect with un affiliated outings??
Sorry this is my first rant on here, just interested in other hh'ers opinions .

Known as a bogey time - they never reveal it until after the event! Person closest to the 'optimum' time gets it in the bag. And yes, unaff the standard of everything can be questionable but there are good uns and not so good uns!

Not sure what they were doing there. In my HT today they timed everyone through the timed section, there were flags at the start and finish of the timed bit and the fastest clear won. The didn't have an optimum time.

Guess u where at pontispool? Wish i had gone there now!!
We only had small board stating when the time section started and then 1 where it finished, approx 3 strides in front of fence 6! Cant see really how they can do time sections fairly with just a stop watch either side of time section.
