ive just wondered what options are out there for stallions ive been toying with the idea of letting my boy out on lease or something similar do you think theres a market out there where studs would take another stallion and what do you think the terms and conditions would be? never done anything like this but i am curious anyone have anyideas

Was talking about this the other day and it's all down to personal choice between you and the stud; there are no hard and fast rules I believe.
One option is to retain some nominations for yourself, another to take a cut from each stud fee and pay a small livery fee or just take a 'renting' fee from the stud and not take any benefits; you could even do a mix of all that!
Of course, it all depends on what the stallion is, his breeding and competition record, if he is popular - or likely to be if a young one, the list just goes on.
Don't know if the SHB would have any guidelines to help.
Whatever you decide, he would probably need a 5* vetting, be insured to his value, you must be happy with stud conditions even if they do things differently from you, but above all, get everything in writing, in fact, if it was me, I'd use a good equine solicitor just in case it does all goes pear shaped!
Good luck, will be interesting to hear about.
