Didnt want to annoy you all with another post about clippers but instead of trawling through posts trying to find something i needed i thought id just post it.

Pony has been clipped and starting to fluff up again and i want to buy my own,
Only for one horse but I'd like the option to clip for others so heavy duty would probably be a better option.

Must be lightweight as im a perfectionist and will spend a long time clipping! and preferably £250 max inc blades (but if you reccomend something more expensive i could have a price search!) would like them to come with fine blades, (why do they all come with medium blades?)

Want them to cut finely and evening without heating up too much, be reliable and long lasting and light

I wanted the Heinginer (sp?) Delta 3 but they are quite heavy
Like the look of Hauptner 3000 but tensioning seems a problem from reviews
Love the lister star but it's only a medium duty
Don't like the liveryman harmony very much

So make my life easy and tell me what to buy ! :)

I have a pair of Liveryman Arena Plus, not too heavy but very powerful, clip my Shetland with ease.

You might find you want both medium and fine blades if pony is quite fuzzy to start with.

I've used Lister for over 40 years now :( and they are super :). At present I am on my second set of Lister Liberty (battery go anywhere), I also use surgical blades as they clip ever so fine and make the clip last longer. However I usually do other peeps with fine blades. :) Hope this helps.

I've got Liberty Lister clippers and find them really easy to use. Can't remember what it is called (Field Pack I think) which came with mains and battery packs. Even my really nervous horse is fine being clipped with these.

I've got the Hauptner ones. Tried a friend's before I bought my own. They are great and never had any problems with the tension

Thanks for the replies, I ordered the lister star and legato trimmer kit that was on sale for £228, came in a carry case/bag with oil and brushes etc.. unfortunatly the case isnt really designed to protect the clippers so will need to make some adjustments or order another case.

Will be trying them out friday

Thanks again :)

Oooh, I've been eyeing up the Lister Star offer. Can you let me know how they go? What blades have you ordered? The ones I was looking at came with fine blades and I was wondering if I would need medium for my pony's native fluff! :)

ive got lister star clippers mine came with fine blades and i bought an extra set of standard blades, i bought them because they were smaller than the other clippers that the store stocked and they were lightweight much better for someone with small hands and having to spend a decent amount of time clipping was worth it, the fine blades happily clip through my highland, and then my irish draught who doesnt get much chance of a coat to grow, should be fine with fine ones for native pony

Brilliant, thank you. :)

Clipping in a couple of hours so I shall post how it goes ! Bit disspointed by the carry bag though, its not very protective at all so I wonder if you can buy the carry case separate?

Need to buy something to store the blades in too as they come with the blades attached and no means of storing them.

But very happy with an amazingly fast delivery from the company (mole valley) came in less than 24 hours ! couldnt reccomend them more based on the purchase.
