Organising a horse & tack sale

Hi

My work has given me a chance to have a horse and tack sale (I work for an auction company) if I can persuade them. It was a budding idea yesterday, and I am due to give my boss the hard sell on Monday. So I am looking to gauge peoples thoughts....

I already know of 200+ lots of tack, and 12/13 horses and ponies (some for sale due to a genuine dispersal/reduction)

What would make you sell or buy horses and tack at an auction? What do you like to see? What do you hate seeing?

We do not have facilities for stabling/storing tack - everything would have to be uplifted the same day; and please don't give me a hard time about horse sales...

The tack sale isn't a problem, but do you not have to have licenses, H&S inspections and risk assessments to be able to hold a livestock auction? Plus I am sure that there has to be insurance policies in place to safeguard buyers from potential problems such as stolen horses or horses that were sold sound but in fact weren't. I say this because I know someone who bought a horse from Melton Mowbray and it was sold as sound but wasn’t and the auctioneers ensured they got their money refunded. I don't think just anyone can hold a livestock auction?

We are a livestock auction company, fully papered to sell all types of animals from pigs, horses, goats, sheep and cattle etc, but we haven't had a horse sale in such a very long time....
