Sorry but thought I'd post a few photos of the weekend! Chocolate Log took Oscar for dressage at the last minute....we'd arranged for Bruce and Ty to go (with my sharer riding Ty) but last minute change and I hadn't learnt the test so CL stepped up to the mark
I honestly couldn't believe how nicely he went - he was a bit hollow backed to start with then realised that CL meant business - you can see the difference from the first to second photos.....
So after being knackered out by his surrogate auntie we took him and Bruce jumping today.
After 40 mins of CL shouting at me in the warmup
we managed to get it together and go in for our first ever jumping comp. I've only jumped Oscar twice and never around a full course!
How to approach a jump - shoulders back, heels down and don't drop forward.....
Or your horse will springbock over the fence
We had the first jump down as I just didn't have enough impulsion but now I know that we can work on it. He was a complete star and got me out of a few 'moments'
So I wanted to finish on a good note but CL kept trying to get me to do the 2'9" clear round so I told her to do it....and she did
Good to know how well he can jump when his rider know's what she's doing....hopefully we'll be there in 6 months with lots of lessons!!
So, what a dude and thanks for reading. Thanks CL for transporting us (as usual) and getting on to have a go.
She doesn't know but she's taking Oscar to his first one day event in the summer
