Hi,
Posting this information to see if anyone could offer advice on an osteo report that has kindly been translated from a French osteo report for me, by some members in this forum.
I don’t have contact with the osteo, and can’t ask questions, but would be very interested to have any opinions on the report, and the seriousness of it, if the horse is in need of veterinary assistance, or are the points raised minor. Totally confused 🙄!
B6413605-E975-46EC-824D-3011135BD716.jpegone point is the horse does seem to hop up into trot, like she has to make momentum from the front, rather than the rear pushing forward .
Any advice gratefully received thanks 😊

Here is the translation of the report…..
the horse is in good general condition " bel état général".

static and dynamical check up:

difficulty pushing with right hind

little possibility of curvature with lombar vertebrae on left

less hind muscles developpement on right

limited neck movement - lack of general amplitude
Realignment checks on :
C5 etc.
After treatment checks: movement of right (D = droite) sacroiliac and range

Advice:
Work can be resumed after 1 week (sem= semaine)
Exercises advised: stretch rear left after work
Second visit not required. (hence the line)
Follow up visit in 6-8 months.

You seem really hung up on this. It reads like a fairly standard osteo report. Some issues found, treated and some exercises given, and horse to return to normal work. No major issues.

If there is an issue now, it may be related to some of the stuff in the report, but the osteo hasn't flagged anything as being a major concern.

What are you looking for in this report?

Is this your horse and is the horse in UK with you now? As with any new horse, your own vet & bodywork assessments before purchase , or if not a straightforward purchase, after coming into care for the horse, would be the best way forward . A very basic ,short, translated summary, is not really worth paying much attention to. You need to book an appointment with a good osteo vet for your own work up, which will come with a comprehensive write up and in person advice. Good luck moving forward with this.

I would say that if they don't think the horse needs seeing again within 6 months then they haven't found anything especially bad, BUT if you feel that the horse isn't right then I would ignore the report and get a vet, always best to treat the horse as you see it in front of you if that makes sense x

thanks for your reply. Yes probably very hung up on it Thankyou!
Unfortunately I don’t have an understanding of the seriousness of any of the things raised on the report, so I was just asking others who are a lot more knowledgeable for their advice.

It sounds to me like your horse isn't pushing through from the right hind as well as they could be and possibly not bending to the left as easily (if I've understood 2nd buller).

So a bit one sided - totally normal!

I did my training in massage therapy but often find myself recommending regular in hand work over poles when a horse is a bit one-sided, together with a saddle check and sometimes a recommendation the rider sees a physio (we're all one-sided too).
