Has anyone on here actually done any serious research or had and super fantastic feedback from any of the supplements on the market.

I am so confused - especially since the recent Medical Journal report stating that Chrondroiton and Glucosamine is basically rubbish.

Has anyone here managed to keep a horse going on a good supplement backed up with bute?

I too would love to find out if any serious research has been done in this area. There are so many supps to choose from and the range in price is hard to justify.

If they were any Bl**dy good wouldn't we all be taking joint supplements for ourselves aswell, or being given them by the NHS.

I already spent £150 for 2 months supply of Cosequine for my mares bone cyst, before I found Suppleaze Gold for £30 with very similar levels of ingredients Vet also suggested Arthi aid which is even cheaper and also similar!!

I cant say I've noticed any difference whether she gets supps or not.

Are there any scientists out there who dont work for supplement companies?

My boy has Suppleaze Gold. He has arthritis in both coffin joints, only mild at this stage. I have found he is perfectly sound on this and it is very economical. A friend who is a lecturer at Warwickshire College did research all the supplements around at the time and she found Suppleaze to have the highest levels of pure ingredients necessary for joint repair. Another new one which is brill but the cost is prohibitive is Sportmax by a company called hackup. Barney is a Friesian and whereas he is sound on Suppleaze, he regained his big beautiful trot on Sportmax. Hope this helps. I know it is a minefield out there.

Not sure if it's of any use, but found that magnetic boots made alot more of a difference than supplements to friends mare... although as my chaps not currently in, so he's not wearing his new boots yet (recent ostio-a diagnosis) I've had him on a supplement recommended by my farrier, will find out name tomorrow... Plan to monitor how the magnetic boots go on him when he's in, but I wouldn't have believed the difference they make to mare...
