Hi, I have a 10yr old dutch warmblood who is bred for jumping but due to one thing and another he is not going to jump competitively as he just doesn't seem to enjoy it any more. I want to compete and can do with my other horse. So I want to do something else with him other than just hacking. Not bothered about dressage (although he is very well schooled) so I was thinking maybe driving? Does anyone have any idea about how to get into it or any other ideas of interesting things I could try with him?

Horse ball, polo (not sure if he'd be too big for these!) XC (instead of show jumping? He might be a bit more enthusiastic about it) fun rides are very enjoyable too. As said above endurance as well :)

With regard to driving, does he long rein? From there its getting him used to a harness with blinkers. Personally I then have them pull a tyre on even ground before getting in to the tyre and let them pull me in it!

Sounds silly but for me its worked, hopefully better people in the know how can give you better idea's :D

Lol!!! That sounds like such good fun! I've always wanted to drive my pony but she was abused in a trap before I had her :( may try it with my colt when he's older though, could imagine it would be a good laugh doing it :D
