Just took him for a romp in the woods, as we rounded a corner I spotted two terriers coming towards him, off the lead.
We see these dogs fairly frequently and they ALWAYS chase and bark at Otto, whether he is on the lead or not. There is absolutely nothing I can do, but stop and wait for their owner to come and put them on the lead and drag them away.
Today the went one step further and started nipping at his neck.

Two dogs barking in his face, nipping and him and chasing him everytime he moved, IMO Otto would have been more than justified to snap at one of them. If they had been people doing that to me (well shouting and pushing me, not barking and biting obviously!!) I'd have shoved them or at least shouted back, but what does Otto do, sits at my feet and completely ignores them!! :D

Especially when you consider that Otto isn't a softy when it comes to other dogs, and can be a tad nasty when he feels he has something to get possesive over (often me) so it really astounded me that he didn't tell these dogs to F-Off!! I was rather tempted to knock one into next week myself!

I told him that not one of the Springers I saw today was a patch on him :D

Good boy Otto, rising above it! Stupid dogs:mad: Henry met one today too, I was tempted to drop-kick it into the middle of next week but refrained:rolleyes:

Good boy Otto! I'm not so sure he would want the medal Hen...maybe a big juicy bone instead?!
I would have drop kicked the owner personally!

Good boy! Dax got nastily snapped at today by, of all creatures, my nan's delinquent JRT and she responded by lying down at my feet and yowling balefully at him, tail wagging. Do dogs understand the concept of taunting, I wonder? :p

I do believe in small dog syndrome, the few dogs over the years that I've had to boot into next week have all been bloody terriers.

Poor Otto! Bloody terriers, I would have been raging and given the owner a piece of my mind!

I don't think it would make the slightest bit of difference! Otto was off the lead a while back and didn;t come back instantly, she made some comment about him letting the side down.... I had to bite my tongue very hard! Her dogs are normally the other side of the woods from her

I think under those circumstances, I would not have managed to bite my tongue...

I nearly bought mine some of that and then decided they didn't need encouraging as far as bambis are concerned!! :p
Flora is still doing laps of honour round the house with a fluffy squeaky bone thing that my mate bought her (that my gundog trainer would feint over if he saw it!) ;)

Otto has LOADS of speaky toys, including a squeaky pheasant, he doesn't try and find out if real pheasants squeak though, thankfully :D

Ott rekons the vension stuff is ok, but the Sea Jery is most definately his favourite!! :D

Bless Otto....he did better than Jack normally does....of course my dog needs a muzzle and her un-rulely lab doesn't need to be on a lead at all yet my dog meets goodness knows how many dogs without issue since I've had to help him thanks to the likes of her and her lab is always getting snapped at!

TBF Otto is a usually very polite dog when it comes to meeting strange dogs, he just sits down and lets them sniff him, but he puts up with these dogs so regularly I am sure one day he will snap! And of course he is 3 times the size of them so will probably do some damage, and then it will be my fault and I will have one of those dangerous dogs...

Well done, Otto. He has my sympathy, as Stella is terrorised at the dog park most days by two Cairn terriers, one of which yaps constantly in her ear, while the other nips at her ankles. Thankfully she is too focussed on her tennis ball to reprimand them, but I could swing for those damn dogs sometimes.

Last week Prince was bitten by a whippet, and she jumped to his defence, so I think they know when a dog is truly a threat and when they're just being annoying.

Well done Otto, I think I would have booted the terriers or their owner. As you say if Otto does eventually decide he has had enough and snap at them it will be his fault :(
