We had planned to go to Gatcombe today, however as someone switched the alarm off (
) we slept in until 10am, and it was going to be after lunch until we got to Gatcombe, so we decided to go to Goodrich Castle.
As they allow Dogs, Otto came too and had a fab time being very well behaved and looking out all the windows, which had clearly been designed with Springer Spaniels in mind as they all had convenient doggy-sized window ledges!
With "Roaring Meg" (our favourite cider is named after this cannon, so we had to get a pic!)
Then we went up the road for a walk along the river, starting at Symmonds Yat Rock.
Lovely View
And now for the really exciting news....
...Otto can swim!!!!!!!!!
We found a perfect spot in on the bend of the river, gradually got deep, was lovely and clear and perfect for paddling
Unfortunately half of Gloucestershire seemed to think the same thing, so Otto had to be on his lead. This actually wasn't a bad thing as a) it kept him in the water and b)once he learnt he could swim, he was desperate to go to the other side and the current was quite strong!
Not too keen at first!
And finally getting the idea
We managed to get lost on the way home and added about an hour extra on our walk
Otto is now completely shattered though, and a tired Otto is a happy Otto
