Otto went up to my Parent's again this weekend, my OH was keen on the idea of having a shot, so off we all went!

This time was a bit more successful, my Dad shot 8 and my OH shot his very first pigeon

Otto also decided that picking up pigeons looked fun, and picked one up off the pile and brought it over to me

(He wasn't keen on the other dogs touching HIS birds mind you

)

Yet again he was very well behaved, although he was desperate to get off his lead, especially when the others went retrieving. He had one tiny squeak this time, but he was sat in one place for 2 hours and watching everyone else doing exciting things.

He also went for his walk today and spent the majority of it off the lead

He came back to the whistle 99% of the time, has also started learning the turn whistle

He is a shattered puppy dog now though, he is currently snuggled in the crook of my knee sound asleep!

A few poser pictures

You can have a Toffee Pecan Cookie and some Terry's Chocolate Orange if you got this far

The IWS retrieved a pigeon, think my Mum scared the rest of the pigeions away with her shrieks of joy

He has only just got retrieving (He is 3

He is another picture of Rury, just 'cos he is such a cutey!

I keep trying to steal him, but my Mum is having none of it, even when I offered to leave Otto in his place!

Yup, we've had the great brute all his life, IWS are just VERY slow to mature. Has always retrieved, just was unsure when it came to shot game, but would mark everything and go over to it.

IWS puppies look like crushed velvet at first. They are very cute!

They are completely different, stubborn and aloof is written is the breed standard!

Ghillie is lovely, but he has been ALOT of work, my Mum is still a complete Working Cocker addict!

He is quite a stressy dog, was gunshy at first, will bark at anything that is out of his normal world (if my Mum has her normally curly hair straightened, Ghillie will be terrified of her!), but he is as soft as grease, and devoted to my Mum.

Plus his coat means he is like a giant teddy bear (my Dad alwasy says someone forgot to put the zip in for PJs!) however he gets EVERYTHING stuck in it, and it needs lots of attention!

Ghillie is bigger than Otto, and he is a big Springer! They are about 25 inches to the shoulder I think.

Otto doesn't like sharing

But as soon as Roo becomes a Daddy (probably not for another year or so) he will have to learn

Fab pictures, looks like you had a great day - wasn't the weather great

Clever Otto - he's going to make a super dog.

PS: Sorry to be so anal, but you will take his collar off when you come to work him properly won't you!

I know, I took it off last time, but completely forgot this time, I actually only noticed it when I was re-sizing the photos now!

TBH he wouldn't wear a collar at all, except for I don't trust him 100% yet, so he has it on for walks. He is microchipped, but his collar has my Mobile number on in case he gets lost on a walk.

Don't worry though, my Mum is the most anal person when it comes to dogs, he wouldn't be allowed out the car with his collar on if it came to "proper" work
grin.gif

She had already researched a million different ways to strap his tail up when I mentioned we were going to look at an undocked springer
grin.gif

It was lovely weather, however I was bloomin' freezing after sitting still on a log for two hours
grin.gif
My knees had seized up when I eventually moved!

I hope he keeps progressing the way he already has, I just keep forgetting he is still only 10 months old, and he has only really had 4 months of any kind of training.

Wow he has really matured! Looking sexy as ever!

Sounds like he is coming on very well too!

Keep up the excellent work.
