Im starting to wonder why we have horses when all you try to do is your best for them i took this one pony from a not so nice yard and loan her and she repays me this summer with being an absoloute nightmare she acts as if i've beaten her which i never raise a hand to my ponys face let alone smack them unless needed to.

So we try to catch her this morning we managed to round her into a stable so i then went in to attach the leadrope so i could groom her etc she kept spinning around so stood at the door for a bit to let her settle i then went to her and i got both barrels on the top of my leg... Nicely bruised now.

I've now given her, her last chance to stay with me as i will not be kicked but i feel so guilty for saying it as i would be heart broken to send her back but to have her kick me for no reason i think is unacceptable and dangerous. I've put her onto a calmer and hoping that this will now just take the edge of her silly behaviour.

Can anyone think of anything i could do with her to maybe make her easier to catch and get less stressed over silly things like just put a fly fringe on somedays shes perfect the next you cant go near her let alone catch her unless u actually round her up with 3 or more people.

Mares can take a long long time to settle, if you always ride after catching ,don't. Sometimes take her to graze in hand, always reward her being caught, down't have to be food, could be just letting her go again:) Take a good long time with her, leave her as nude as possible, fly fringes can annoy, particularly if they get wet or it is windy. She sounds to have had bad experiences in the past so maybe doesn't associate people with safety. If she i proud of her food, leave her in peace to eat, taking it slowly until she will let you stand with her. etc. etc.
