My sons 18 yr old black and white cat went missing Friday, he has to have tablets each day for heart and kidneys.. Done posters, door step knocking, called rescues and local vets, we are so upset, I know he is just a cat, but he been with us from 3 months old... So sad in our house tonight... My vet said he may have gone away to die in peace.

I'm afraid I'd suspect your vet is right. Whilst it's horrid not knowing just remember that he chose his own time and found himself a place that he felt was appropriate. Most of us humans don't have that luxury.

Sorry not to be more upbeat, he may come back, you may find him tucked away somewhere, but he has had a very long life now:(

And he's not just a cat, he's a long term member of your family, there will be many happy memories of him waiting to be enjoyed when you are able.

I'm so sorry and really hope your vet is wrong.
We lost a quite elderly Devon Rex, was missing for months and was then found living rough almost 15 miles away....we finally worked out that she had put herself into a van making a delivery and then escaped from the van and been unable to get home, is it worth checking if any deliveries or house moves were happening nearby when he vanished.

I hope you find him, its even more of a worry when they need daily tablets, one of mine has to for the same things and I fret if he goes out for too long!

Good Luck with your missing Cat I have one that goes off for days on end 25 days at one stretch last year I know how you Feel but at least mine has always returned so far.

Thanks all . He was last seen waiting on doorstep for me to get home Friday. Neighbour saw him at 5 . 30. I got home 5.45 .. He has never gone missing before . All neighbours are looking out for him, he is well known round our street... We can hope and pray he returns, he may be in a shed or garage locked in, he is nosy!

I hope he comes home soon.

My sister's elderly siamese went missing for a few days in 2010, we gave up all hope of seeing her again, but she did come back (she was everso hungry).

Hope you find him. One of my neighbours lost their (younger) cat for almost 3 months. He suddenly turned up out of the blue, slightly thinner but ok.
We had one of ours go missing, too. The not knowing what actually happened is awful.
I hope your old man comes back to you.
