I was going to post this in Comp Riders but it felt too strange so I thought I'd stay in here :p :D

I entered Bentley into BD Intro dressage competition today (walk and trot only as the world isn't ready for our transitions into canter :) Mostly I was keen to get him abit of 'exposure' to the scary world of competition and warming up in a crowd- it felt so very odd riding my big baby amongst 'real horses' but he stayed as calm as ever and behaved like a real pro :D

So we went in for the test and he went reeeeally well, very soft and obedient despite all the distractions and I even remembered the test :rolleyes: :D

I braced myself for the critical comments from the judge as I picked up my results, hoping it would be constructive so we could learn from them :o :) and was BLOWN AWAY to find a first place rossette stapled to it!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

We got 69.1% which was 7s with two 6s (one for a squiffy 20m circle and one for a sloppy turn onto the centre line :o :D )

* * * * I am so proud of my little lad* * * *

I'm sorry I have no pics, I promise I will next time :D

Well done!!! I bet you are thrilled!!!

I have the upmost respect for anyone who can do dressage!! My current mare *detests* schooling with a passion, especially with an audience, so I have only ever done one test, which I though showed our 'squares' very well and I couldn't swallow!!! I am aiming to do some with my little boy next year, and would be over the moon to get half of your score!!!!!

Well done both of you :D Is that your boy in your siggy? Looks to be a total transformation from 1st photo to last. What a handsome fella - what's his breeding? :)

Hiya Tiffany, thanks for your interest! Yes it is Bentley in my siggy who won the competition today :D He has made a lot of progress in 2yrs :D

Bentley's passport says Danish WB x Cob but he came through a horse fair two years ago (first pic in siggy was taken on delivery) so I'm not sure how reliable it is :eek: :rolleyes: ...I now have so many people who say "he is obviously Irish Draft" or commending him for being "so true to type" (that was a show judge in a hunter class) that I tend to smile and nod at them :o :D

Wow well done thats mighty impressive for your first test - im planning on taking my 4yo to his first competition and ill just be happy if I stay on board :-) Look forward to seeing future reports.
