We moved in yesterday. The previous owners were still there, so I used the time to secure the field gates and to get the ragwort out of the first field and the garden flower beds. She thought it a pretty wild flower, so allowed it to grow in her immaculate garden beds. I will do the third and fourth fields today and make a start on the horrendous second one. I think they had actually been cultivating ragwort in number two!

Then we can get an agri contractor in to cut and bale, electric fencing in field one and a mobile stable in so that I can move his lordship in to his new accommodation. The fun planning process then starts on the American barn and school.

I am eagerly waiting for my first opportunity to shout "get off my land" at someone.

Three out of four fields cleaned of the filthy stuff now. Agri contractor lined up to come and quote for cutting and baling. Getting there, slowly!

Oh, the pure heaven (and incredibly hard but rewarding work) of having your own place. I wish you health to enjoy, as we say over here.

Oh how wonderful to have the horses outside your back garden! Congrats and I hope you get moved in all quickly and everything goes well.

Congratulations. We bought our house with 6 acres in January and have applied for planning permission for small yard and arena. We already had permission but having lived here for a few months we decided to reapply so it's exactly as we want it. We had a tough summer getting our land tidied up as agri contractor couldnt get in to spray weeds with all the rain but I've pulled all the ragwort.
I've had lots of fun getting quotes for stables and deciding what we want to do. I love having the horses at home and still get a big grin on my face when I look out the window and see them happily grazing. Good luck and let us know how you get on :0)

Nothing beats it , I can still remember the pure pleasure of sitting on a bank watching the two horses I had then graze on our own land for the first time .

Got the quote from Monarch Stables today. I don't recall saying that I wanted my barn covered with gold leaf and the partitions from teak.
