B@stards, I am fuming, all leather work gone, saddles and bridles, but nothing else (rugs, boots, hats, apart from my collection of spurs). I cannot believe it, sometime between 7.30 and 10, they damn well knew what they were doing, and they stole mine and my friends wheelbarrows.

Anyone know if there are any fairs on tomorrow?

Bloody hell - haven't you suffered enough?

Just out of interest - was the tack room locked and alarmed and in general terms very secure, and was your tack (saddles) post-coded?

Only asking because mine are (as secure as can be and coded) and I am still paranoid about break-ins. Just wondered if I might as well leave the lot out on the lawn...

My Butet saddle is marked and one other person's was too, none of the rest were. Have been advised to go and look in laybys to see if anything has been dumped, but where do you start?

Tack room was, in YOs words, secure enough to keep any insurance company happy.

That's what I'm afraid of.

Really sorry Weezy. Am seriously thinking of spraying name and postcode onto seats of all ours with pink hi viz paint.

Someone has got to come up with a foolproof deterrent - you know, like taking the wheels off your lorry at night or removing the steering wheel. Well, a saddle equivalent

When ours was cleared out in April i was told by my saddler that they tend not to bother with the UK anymore and ship them off overnight to tack sales in Holland and somewhere else.

Its a horrible feeling isnt it - we still wont leave our tack at the stables for fear of them coming back for the new stuff.

Sorry to hear this. They seem to have been operating in your area recently. They are also operating around here.

TBH I agree with bright eyes, what do you do? I used to brand my saddles but have lost the brander thing I used and havent seen one since. And it would be a nightmare with the wows anyway.

I keep them indoors now.

We were told the same when purs was done 5 years ago. We are only 50 miles or so from Dover and ours was done around 4am. They would have been somewhere on the continent by lunchtime! We looked around at local auctions but nothing ever turned up.

Really hope you can get some of it back Weezy

Absolute g*ts!

If there pro's and make a living out of it then the chances are the tack will go into storage for a while, then re-appear many months down the line at at auction, as the will sell stuff now, which was nicked ages ago, gives chance for the dust to settle etc.

A lot of 'red hot' tack makes it's way to a big auction in Lancashire, can't remember what they call it but I'll find out and get back to you, I'd get in touch with then of any stamped tack so they can look out for it in the future sales.

Clitheroe aution centre or something like that?, never been as I'm not familiar with that area, I looked into it when we had our yard done over 3 times and that place came up several times.
