Hi was looking at solarium for stables and saw some lamps that are almost exactly like an infrared patio heater. Obviously you have to make sure the lamp is high enough from the horse around a metre so as not to burn. My question is has anyone put one of these in their stable? To use for drying and warming up prior to riding??
Many thanks

Interested in your post.

Seriously thinking of getting heat lamps. Have seen some great low glare 1.5kw on heat outdoors website. A bit pricey, but these have been tried and tested.

Definitely food for thought...:)

The yard I keep my horse on has one. I haven't used it as I was brought up in the old-fashioned priciple that bathing horses is A Bad Thing (except in exceptional circumstances). However, many people do use it and like it. It's used for drying horses after bathing, warming stiff backs, etc.

Very expensive piece of kit, though.

One lamp costs £43......that was my point it's not expensive if you look in the right places. I think if you put equine before almost any product it seems to quadruple......? Am going to have a chat with my electrician friend. 1lamp is all I'll need.....cost 7p per hour too. I agree Ellen I hate bathing horses except when necessary. I was thinking more fore theraputic reasons. :)
