Do any of you just bring your horse in and leave its outdoor rug on I always changs mine under rug top stabe rug but some of the yard think i'm a bit daft doing this and put there horses to bed in the same outdoor rug muddy and wet and smelly !! am I being too pernikity !!

All the horses on my yard live in their outdoor rugs the majority of the time, saves time as it is a busy yard, also find that the rugs dry off much quicker if left on the horse (bodyheat?)

Agree with skyHi. I leave turnout rugs on too. Nice and dry in the morning unless you have the luxury of a rug drier. Saves time too when you have to rush off to work!

I do the same. If the rugs dry on the inside I leave it on. That way the outside drys with the horses body heat so no soggy turnout rug to put on in the morning. Most turnouts are breathable these days.

The horses on full livery at my yard stay in theirs all the time mainly to save time and as someone else has sated modern rugs are breathable and more comfortable to use all the time.

Also no worries re drying rugs and having to haul wet muddy rugs around. Sometimes keep mine on if I am going to be in a rush in the morning otherwise I do like to spoil my chap and he has some lovely squishy duvet rugs that I like to dress him up in at night.

To be honest I don't think he cares he's just as warm in the morning if he's had the nice ones on at night or the scummy, muddy turn out! Bit like dressing up dolls as a kid!??.. Maybe I need therapy..... Maybe it's just a girly thing???!!!!

I mostly leave Jerry's outdoor one on night and day, in or out unless its wet then I take it off and hang it to dry.
His outdoor rug is the one that fits best so I think its the best thing to do!

All mine stay in there turnouts, they dry quicker and also they are turned out by the YO, so it saves time for her and money for me........I also look at it this way they are nice and warm, so why take off the warm rugs to put cold rugs on.... Will admit to changing them on a Friday night and Saturday night to nice clean stable rugs..... but to be honest they are not bothered what they are wearing just as long as they have feed and water and haynets in.........
