Is it worth it??

Does anyone feed it?

I have been sent some D&H build and grow but dont think that mrs fussy pants will eat it!!

What are your thoughts on either??

Try Topspec

What are you feeding it for - coat shine or condition? It is a very concentrated form of calories, so you only have to feed a little, but still works out expensive on a cost per calorie ratio to most other conditioning feeds. But works out less expensive on a cost per calorie ration to Equijewel though, which is similar!

hi there i am feeding d &h build and glow and my horse eats it and he is very fussy. i have great results from it and my horse has managed to put loads of weight on with it. highly recommend it

Feeding it for weight gain.

Spoke to Baileys today and they said she could be having 2 pints (I measured it in a pint jug, hence funny ammount) per day.

Thats quite alot for the £35 bag!! But she is tres skinny so maybe it would only be that much till shes looking better!

I have got a sample of the build and grow stuff so will try her with that tomorrow

I used it to put condition on an elderly horse, it was very expensive I felt so went back to oil and a vit E supplement. The thing I have now found to put condition on is A&P Calm and Condition. Excellent. Although I would query the calm bit as we appear to be whizzing about!

C and C is notoriously high in starch and sends many a horse loopy. Saracen equijewel is more cost effective that Outshine in my view and works wonderfully.

QR - Outshine does definitely work. My friend feeds it to her 26 year old TB for condition and coat shine, it's made a world of difference. He gets it twice a day and I dread to think how much it's costing her though!

[/ QUOTE ]Although Equijewel is cheaper per bag it contains significantly less calories than Outshine so on a cost per calorie basis it works out more expensive. Obviously as with all feeds there are other factors involved - if your horse hates Outshine then Equijewel may be a better choice LOL!

You could try Micronised linseed (20 MJ/kg compared to Outshines 24 MJ/kg, works out about half the price of Outshine per MJ) or Stance Equines Power Stance (29MJ/kg, not sure of cost though)

expensive yes but it is very very good. I had to feed it my old horse when he lost weight and muscle due to EPSM he had been on Topspec for months with no improvement, but I saw improvement with outshine within about 14 days

Another one for linseed here, my gelding was on Outshine last winter, found very expensive, kept his weight well, but on linseed he looks amazing (i think anyway:P)

I used triple crown top up to my skinny last winter. It was really good. You only feed a mug full per feed. I fed it with alfa, sugar beet, F4F and ad lib haylage and he was looking great by the end of the winter.
I feed linseed all year round too.
