A horse over at the knee is less likely to have trouble with the tendons in the normal scheme of things so would be far preferable to something that was back at the knee which can cause a lot of weakness. It also depends to a certain extent how badly the leg is out of sync' as to how it would affect the soundness if there was a problem. There are lots of successful race and competition horses with this fault too if that helps.
