Have any of you used over each boots to top shoes being pulled off? Beanie always has a inward groove on the inside wall of her N/F. Our farrier has just shod her and he leaves a ledge of the shoe proud to give her support. Just recently she has lost nails from that part of the shoe and me thinks that she is treading on the ledge of the shoe with opposite foot. She isnt pulling the shoe off but I think she is doing just enough to losen the nails which then fall out. Any suggestions as our usual o r boots don't come round far enough to cover this area. Help!!

my boy always wears over reach boots front and back! He's got so bad I even leave them on when he's in because he steps all over his own feet. Often they get broken which shows how much he steps on his feet. You have nothing to loose by trying it, except money of course

Just be careful with long over reach boots - lots of people who event cut them short as horses can somersault from standing on an overeach boot. It might be worth speaking to your farrier about using some filler to pad out the foot so it is level with the edge of the shoe?

My mare used to go out with 4 over-reach boots on everyday! Worked brilliantly. It's a lot cheaper to replace the boots than the shoes!

My firiend's horse wears overreach boots 24/7 on his back legs as he pulls his shoes off otherwise. The neoprene ones are good as they don't break so easily (he's got through 9 pairs of rubber ones in 6 months but before that he was doing the same to his hooves!) but they do stay wet for a long time if it rains whcih isn't good for his heels. I had a eureka moment the other day and thought that if you use westropp boots (do they still make them?) it will just be individual petals that break so you won't need to replace whole boots all the time, just a petal now and again.
